Family Gatherings

After the advent of the Internet I found a lot of relatives online and a few of them expressed an interest in meeting up so we decided to hold a family gathering in 2002.

It was held in St Bryce Kirk in Kirkcaldy and it was well attended with over 70 members of the Colliar family present.

Shortly afterwards I found cousins in Canada who had been told there where no family members left in Scotland, after going to see them, they expressed an interest in coming over to see the country and to meet the family so a second gathering was held in 2004, this time in the Corn Exchange in Cupar.

Sadly in 2009, Dad was diagnosed with cancer and he expressed an interest in seeing the family one last time, so a third meeting was arranged, this time in The Adam Smith Centre in Kirkcaldy. Two of my cousins came over from Vancouver and we rounded the evening of with a Ceilidh.

The fourth gathering was held in Kinross in July of 2015 and was a great sucess, we recieved a lot more information and we had visitors from Australia.

In July of 2019 we went out to St Pauls and Minneapolis, the Twin Cities, where we met new family members.

We also spent some time in Washington DC where we met another cousin.

Our last gathering was held in September of 2022. in Dunfermline, and we had a good turn out with cousins coming over from the US. We managed to fill in some blanks and got a lot of new information.

It is hoped that the next family gathering will be in 2025.
