Biography
I was born in Kettering in 1971, my photo was taken at the Mall of America, Minnesota in 2019 when we did a US tour and met some of the extended family. My dad is Alistair Colliar who died in 2009, he was born in Coults in Fife and my mum is Cecilia Wilson who was born in Kirkcaldy and died 2019. I am descended from Robert Colliar and Betty Dick. Robert was born circa 1748. My mum and dad moved to Scotland in the mid seventies and moved around a fair bit. My Mum's family came from Kinglassie. a small Fife vilage, were I lived during the 1980s. My dad grew up in the small hamlet of Balmerino on the banks of the River Tay, in the very north of Fife and his family came from that area. I met my husband Les back in 1988 and we married in 1991. We have six children Elijah (2001), Naomi (2002), Kia (2005), Talitha (2006), Phinehas (2008) and Damaris (2010). After a class visit to a library and getting to stamp the books at a very early age I decided that I wanted to be a Librarian and I attended Telford college in Edinburgh after leaving school in the late 1980s. In the 1990s I studied at University Of Northumbria and gained a BA Hons in Library and Information Management. My first professional post was working for the University Of Dundee's Kirkcaldy Campus as Assistant Librarian. I left in 2008 to take up the post of Adult Service Librarian within East Lothian Council, I am now Senior Librarian for Digital and of Adult Services within the Library Service. We lived in Kirkcaldy for 12 years before moving to East Lothian in 2008.
